Lyric Soprano Gina Adorno (she/her) enjoys an active musical life in Portland, singing with Portland Opera, Opera in the Park Portland, New Wave Opera, and Opera on Tap Portland. Previous engagements have included Garden State Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, New York Street Opera, Orpheon Chorale, and The New York Choral Artists. A native New Yorker originally trained as a violinist, she grew up immersed in orchestra and theatre before eventually making her way to opera. She holds an MM in Opera Performance from Peabody Conservatory and currently studies with Ruth Dobson.
Recent solo appearances include Portland Opera preview performances as Mimì in La bohème, Opera a la Cart, and collaborations with artists across genres, including a featured performance at the 2025 Oregon Business Leadership Summit and multidisciplinary artist Onry’s Albina Homecoming Performance Show. She joined New Wave Opera as Bailey in the queer feline comedy Meow and Forever. In addition to her performance work, Gina is a licensed mental health therapist specializing in trauma, addictions, and neurodivergence-affirming autism evaluations for adults. Combining her backgrounds in music and mental health, she has also appeared as a speaker and guest presenter, including a pre-performance lecture for Cascadia Chamber Opera and an appearance on Portland Opera’s podcast Opera Talk - discussing relationships in La bohème from the perspective of both a singer and mental health professional. She is currently developing interdisciplinary recital and lecture programming exploring opera’s portrayals of psychosis and altered perceptual experiences through both musical and mental health perspectives, including the bel canto “mad scenes” of Lucia di Lammermoor and I Puritani.
